How to Use the Free Application Soundplant on Your Mac
As its name suggests, Soundplant turns a computer keyboard into a multitrack sample triggering device and playable musical instrument. This innovative application allows you to assign any type and size of sound file to any key on the keyboard and provides hours of random access audio. Soundplant requires no extra hardware or software, and can be used as a performance tool, drum pad, educational tool, and more. The software allows you to experiment with all types of sounds and loops, and it's completely customizable.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the sound by changing the 'key mode'. The 'key mode' affects the sound playback. In this mode, pressing a key will always begin sound playback. Pressing a key while holding shift will select all the keys between the last selected key and the clicked one. When you're working with multiple instances of Soundplant, this feature comes in handy. It also prevents accidental selection of keys.
In addition to the volume slider, you can also control the tempo of a sound by its speed, pitch, and duration. You can also use the'sustain' mode to trigger another sound instance, and'restart' mode to start a sound from scratch. To enable this feature, press shift+. In Soundplant's Preferences, you can enable the'restart' function to prevent all active sounds from overlapping.
